Braly lives in Indianapolis with her husband Doug and with three children Matthew, Tyler and Rachel. She is also serving as general counsel, executive vice president and chief public affairs officer for the company. She was known by the St. Louis Business Journal as one of the 25 Most Powerful Women in Business for 2000 and was named as one of Recent Healthcare's Top 25 Women in Healthcare in 2007.

In 1979, Angela Braly graduated from Richardson High School. Then after in 1982, she went to Texas Tech University to complete her undergraduate degree, where she became graduated. Afterward she completed her Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law. Braly was an associate in the Rice & Fingersh, St. Louis law firm of Lewis.

She afterward became CEO and president of the Missouri plan, supervision all phases of the business and setting strategies to assemble customer requirements. On March 1, 2010, she became chairwoman of the WellPoint board.

Fortune ranked Angela Braly the fourth most influential lady in business in America in 2007, fourth most powerful in 2009 and fifth most powerful in 2008. Since April 2009, she had the 306th maximum recompense for a US CEO, having received $4.07 million, which is 74th among females. Angela Braly usually supports Republican political candidates with movement charity.
